I didn't know if one existed and I couldn't find one, so I started my own.  If you have an eBook reader and would like to have some eBooks of your favorites, read on.

I bought a Kindle last year.  I had read that you could put PDF files on it and read them fom there.  So I started doing that.  Oh, it was fantastic!  No longer bound to my computer chair!  I could read in bed.  I could read while waiting at the bus stop.  I could read while eating in a restaurant.  And I could do all that without killing a single tree.

Sadly, there's a big difference in quality between reading a PDF and reading an eBook on my Kindle.  I decided then to clean up my PDF files and change them into real eBooks.  I am in the process of doing so now with the help of some software called Calibre.  (If you have a reader, you'll want it; it's free and easy to use.)  As I was in the process, I wondered if anyone else had done this.  I was sure the idea didn't originate with me.  If someone else had already made an eBook of one of my favorites, I could just get that one and save myself some effort.  That's when I ran into the reality of not knowing where anyone would keep them so I could get them.

Thus was born the Fan Fiction eBook Repository.

It's still a baby site.  It will grow slowly as I have time to work on it.  If you'd like to help out, I'd love it.  More people means more stuff up faster.  I'm not an altruist.  I had this site on my hosting account and it wasn't doing anything, so I put Wordpress on it and began building.  What you see currently is what I've been able to get done this weekend.

So far what's up there is a small slice of the stuff from my Kindle.  I went nuts over my new toy and crammed anything I wanted on there.  I'm cleaning it up now.  As I clean it, I'll be adding new bits.  But, here's the thing: I only put stories on my Kindle that I like.

Not everyone likes the same things I like.  I'm strictly a Janto fangirl, so other pairings or them with other people is not on my radar (and not on my Kindle).  I'm sure there are lots of superbly written fics out there that are just not fitted for my taste.  I can't say for sure since I haven't read them, but I think it's a pretty safe assumption.  So, unless I get some input from others, those will never make it up to the repository.

I was going to make it just for Torchwood, but some of my favorites write in other fandoms.  Why shouldn't I give those a home, too? So I made the site with the idea that other fandoms could start using it if they want.

You do not have to be a registered user of the site if you just want to download eBooks.  If you want to comment, you need to sign up.  This is not a forum for debate on the merits of a particular story, but if there's something not right about the eBook (I maybe misspelled a word in the title), then I would like to know about it.  Easiest way to do that is to comment on the post where I announce it, or send me a private message about it.

There is absolutely nothing on the site so far that is not available here.  The only difference is in the format.  If I put something up that you wrote and you are appalled, tell me and I will take it down.  This is not an archive like fanfiction.net.  It's a library.  For eBooks.  Just to enjoy.

I hope you will check it out.  Let me know what you think of both the idea and the site.

Brilliant I'm all for it.

I have quite a few Torchwood fan fics converted to PDF for the Kindle 3 if you want them :) I'll have to do an author search for them so they can be credited to the right person but they there if you like :)

Admittedly, the Ebook Library (http://amalthia.mediawood.net/ebooks/index.php) does not carry any Torchwood stories yet, so yay for this! I haaaate how PDFs "work" on ereaders. Why can't everything be in nice epub/mobi files instead? ;)

This is just a brilliant idea. I'm with you...downloading PDF's was what I got the Kindle in the first place, but they really aren't very pretty, are they?

I have a lot of Torchwood (Jack/Ianto and Gen) and a few Christian/Syed from Eastenders, I'd be happy to ask the authors for permission to change the format and post them on this site, but I'll only post if the authors agree

I wasn't offended, some of my PDFs are from friends who has allowed me to make them for personal use, so I need to ask if it'll be OK to do this, the ones the authors made and put up in their journal are probably OK to change, but I'll ask in general in my journal for permission to repost their work.
I don't know when I'll have time to convert what I have, if you think it'll be faster I can send the PDFs to you?
Oh and I was trying out the downloads, the link for yours, mine and ours is broken

I would be flattered and honoured *blushes*

I'd never give up 'real' books, but I have way, way, way too many and I'm having to through out a lot because of space issues - but a lot of them are available in e-book format, so I'm replacing some and keeping others - best of both worlds!

I've sent a few of my favorites, I don't think there'll be any issues with posting these, but I'll let you know if I hear anything different :)

i don't have an e-book reader but would be interested in pdf's, do you have an repository of pdf's or can you make them yourself like with an e-book, i have several pdfs of differnt fandoms as they are easier for me to read and use, i'd really be intereasted in any that you know of or even how to make the yourself if you know how to. i know archive of our own you have the option to download pdf as well as other formats, plus reel torchwood and tardis big-bang. but they are the only ones and i am running out of janto things to read. Thanks, hope it's ok to ask you and love your stories too.

It's a bit of a convoluted process but I put a document in Open Office, enlarge the font to about '18' then save it. I re-open it in the larger font then export the document as a PDF file. So far I've had no formatting problems and the fics are easy to read :)

Ooooh cool :)

Actually I'm just wondering if it's worth making a post for authors in the various LJ comms to say yes or no to their stories being put on the site. As near as I can tell as long as the authors are asked they're quite happy about it and beats trying to ask all of them individually :)

I use calibre to create epub files for my ebook readers on my Ipad (mostly Torchwood). As I didn't want to go through the hassle of creating PDF files, I used my computer's word processor and created Rich Text Files (.rtf). I converted these RTF files into epub using calibre and they turn out quite well.

Thought I'd just pass this along in case anyone wanted to use this method.

I am starting an olinne unaccredited college like curriculum similiar to Stanford Career Institute and am looking for someone to put curriculums together who wrote or own the master copies(they have the right to resell) of the ebooks. I wll offer commission(negotiable) to whomever can produce this.

, Wow, Mom, I guess there must be lots of kids that have a hard time memorizing mutoiplicatiln facts, or they wouldn't have written a book about it! , her attitude has completely changed. She's got her confidence back She knows she will overcome this challenge, even if it takes a bit more time & work to do it And that's fine because that's just the way she's wired. Thank you so much for writing this book, it was an answer to prayer! Now I think we need the Wiggle Fidgets to share with our youngest daughter, who is a wiggle worm if ever there was one!
